Any action is better than no action.
Isaac Newton once said, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Well, no action at all produces absolutely no results. You can have a goal in mind, but until you begin to take the necessary steps to realize that goal, it simply remains a thought. I remember being at a writing convention years ago as an undergraduate student. During the Q&A session someone asked the presenter, an author, what was the best advice she ever received in relation to writing. Her reply came without hesitation:
“If you want to be a writer…write.”
For me, it was like a light went off. “If you want to be a writer…write.” Now this obviously isn’t the only requirement to becoming a world-renowned author, but it’s a start. And any great endeavor has a beginning. Initially, you may stumble and you may fall, but as long as you are moving forward and progressing toward your goal then you’re taking positive steps. It’s true that sometimes the first step is the hardest, but it’s also true that sometimes a start is all that is necessary to spur greatness.
Begin.
And be great!
